Halloween At Rex, Majestic And Saigon Boat

Halloween, a western festival that is held annually at the end of October, is approaching. Some members of Saigontourist Holding Company will celebrate it for fun’s sake.

Halloween will be celebrated at Rex Hotel Saigon, Majestic Hotel and Saigon Boat Restaurant.

Rex Hotel Saigon

The five-star Rex Hotel Saigon in downtown HCM City will celebrate Halloween Festival at its Rooftop Garden, one of the most beautiful bars in the city, on the night of October 30.

Joining the festival, guests will have many delicious dishes and a great deal of wine to enjoy. They will also be able to participate in interesting entertainment activities with professional disc jockeys, see a masquerade of the hotel employees or have themselves masqueraded free. Couples with the most impressive, most terrifying and funniest costumes will be given prizes.

The ticket for joining the festival costs an adult US$40++ and a child US$26++. The 15% and 10% discounts are given to guests staying at the hotel and masqueraded guests, respectively.

The Rooftop Garden, which was a favorite rendezvous of American military officers and foreign journalists in the 1960s and was selected to be one of the best bars in Southeast Asia in 1996 by Newsweek, is located on the fifth floor of Rex Hotel Saigon. It is an ideal place for groups or couples to relax in a fresh, airy space and observe Saigon’s night life.

Majestic Hotel

Majestic Hotel will celebrate Halloween Night at its M-Bar on the eighth floor from 6:30 p.m.-11 p.m. on October 31. The party offering special food and drinks, coupled with games and artistic performances, promises plenty of fun. Guests can have themselves masqueraded free to attend the festival. Those with the exclusive and the most impressive performances will get prizes.

The ticket prices for the Halloween party are US$26 for an adult and US$13 for a child.

M-Bar is a right place for relaxing with music performances by a Filipino band. It is also suitable for meetings with customers or friends. From here, guests can take a panoramic view of the Saigon River and HCM City’s busy life. This is also one of the first choices when people want to see firework displays on the occasion of special holidays and festivals.

Saigon Boat Restaurant

Saigon Boat Restaurant will serve and entertain guests with a Halloween dinner buffet on the nights of October 30 and 31. In the hilarious atmosphere of the festival, guests will be served by merry, lovely “ghosts.” Drinks include Australian wine, Russian Fifth Ocean beer and cocktail. The buffet goes with more than 40 dishes, including pumpkin soup, grilled shrimps with lemon sauce and grilled sheep ribs with garlic.

The performances of the Latin Eyes band and Philippine singers together with Hawaiian and Gypsy dances and photo taking with Halloween Dracula are features of the festival.

The boat will receive guests and serves cocktail from 6 p.m. It will start the one-hour journey between Bach Dang Quay and Ben Nghe Port from 8:30-9:30 p.m. After the ship stops at its berth at Bach Dang Quay, the dancing night program will begin and last one hour. The ticket costs VND500,000 for an adult and VND300,000 for a child.
The Saigon Boat Restaurant is 55 meters long, 10 meters wide and 6 meters high. The well-designed boat with three decks can carry 600 people beside its crew. Each deck has a different style to meet customers’ diverse demands. The boat is much known for seafood dishes, namely tiger shrimps steamed with coconut milk, duck meat fried with taro and seafood hotpot.

Places to celebrate Halloween Night

If you are looking for a cool place for a Halloween party, here’s our list of some hotels, bars and café in town.

*Caravelle Hotel: The Halloween Nightmare Party will be at Saigon Saigon Bar at 6:30 p.m. on October 31 with exciting games, sweet and spooky Halloween drinks, “frightening food” and shock-inducing shots awaiting you and your friends.

Halloween drink list includes Vampire’s Kiss, Blood and Sand, Ectoplasm n’ Eyeballs, Swarm Water Gross and Bloody Vampire for VND135,000++ each.

*Legend Hotel Saigon:  A fabulous night filled with the Halloween spirits and treats lies ready at the hotel’s Atrium Café from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct 31. There’s a buffet with frightful dishes, live entertainment by the Jamm’n Essence band and the orange and black scareroom, with skeletons, spider webs, carved pumpkins and frightening creations.

A witch will be flying her broom over the tables to make you scream. While enjoying the live band, you can have Transylvania Dinner, Asian Witch Soup, Dracula’s First Bite and many more devilish foods.

*Windsor Plaza Saigon: On Oct. 31 from 9 p.m. till late, the hotel’s America Discotheque will host Halloween special activities.

Dress up in your best costume for a chance to be crowned Halloween King or Queen of the night in the special costume contest. At 12 midnight, the lights will go out for 15 minutes and Halloween fever will come to life for everyone present.

America Discotheque will be decorated as a haunted house on the evening with plenty of spooky decorations everywhere, including traditional Jack-o’-lanterns, spider webs and mummies. There will be plenty of opportunities to take fun and memorable photographs with special backdrops and photo areas as well.

The hotel’s Café Central An Dong in Dist. 5 and Café Central Nguyen Hue in Dist. 1 will also present a fun-filled Halloween.

*Seventeen Saloon: The saloon will be turn into a Halloween maze with well-known celebrities from hell like Jason, Dracula, Vampire and Frankenstein. There are two different theme nights including “The return of Jason” (the main character in the Friday the 13th horror movie) featuring dances and gameshows on Oct 30 and “The combination of Dracular and vampire” on Oct 31.

The fun starts at 9 p.m. both nights at Seventeen Saloon, 103A Pham Ngu Lao Street, District 1. Guests who buy a bottle of spirits will get one Halloween mask or gift. Seventeen Saloon with give prizes for guests with the best make up. Free make-up is available from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

*Vasco’s bar: To celebrate Halloween on Oct. 30, Vasco’s will transform its two rooms into dungeons. The main room will feature A.K.A.T, DJ Kamel Knight, DJ Robert Brant, DJ Alex Zander, Jordan and Jase while the Blue Room will host several birthday parties with music by Von Knappe, Don Pucci, DR.Jakell and guest performers.

The night also includes a variety of prizes and specials including a bottle of Southern Comfort and a US$200 F&B voucher to be used at La Camargue and Vasco’s for Best Male Costume and best Female Costume. Lucky guests will also have a chance to win bottles of Southern Comfort throughout the night.

*Acoustic Café: The live music cafe Acoustic will host “Scream From the Ring” at 8 p.m. on Saturday Oct. 30. The Halloween live concert features bands Titanium, Coconuts and Overload, singers Ha Okia, Thao Trang, Chu Minh Ki, Minh MTV and special guests guitarist Nguyen Dat and his famous band Da Vang.

The night will also feature a host of horror games with the chance to win prizes worth US$400. Halloween makeup for guests is available from 6 p.m. Entrance is VND80,000 inclusive of a drink. Entry is free for guests in Halloween costumes.

Trick or treat for Halloween in Hanoi

Halloween in Hanoi will be a screamer this year when 6000 Vietnamese students and international friends make themselves into monsters for a party at West Lake Park in Hanoi from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on October 31.

Scary costumes, ghost houses, magic performances, hip hop dancing, sideshows and folk and rockshows will make it a fun fright-night.

There will be a pumpkin lantern making contest and a Halloween house design and decorating competition between about 20 university teams. The program will also include lucky draws and comedy shows by artist Xuan Bac, Tu Long and Ngu Cung band.

Halloween, October 31, is an annual holiday in the US. It has roots in the Celtic festival of Samhain and the Christian holiday All Saints’ Day, but is on Wednesday largely as a secular celebration. It has become popular in Vietnam in recent years.

Common Halloween activities include trick-or-treating, wearing costumes and attending costume parties, carving jack-o’-lanterns, ghost tours, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, committing pranks, telling ghost stories or other frightening tales, and watching horror films.
