Cuisines For Christmas And New Year’s Eve

Saigontourist Holding Company’s hotels, restaurants and resorts serve diverse cuisines for Christmas and New Year’s Eve

Rex Hotel Saigon (141 Nguyen Hue Blvd., Dist. 1, HCM City. Tel: 08.38228380)

Rex will serve a Christmas party at its Rooftop Garden from 7 p.m. of December 24 until 0:30 a.m. of the next day. Diners will taste traditional dishes while enjoying artistic performances of well-known singers and models. They will also have wine, beer, soft drinks and mineral water free as well as join a lucky draw. Ticket prices are US$80++ for an adult and US$39++ for a child.

Also at the Rooftop Garden, a New Year welcoming party will last from 7 p.m. of December 31 until 0:30 a.m. of the next day. The buffet has lobster soup as a special dish. It goes with a variety show, a lucky draw and a free flow of wine, beer and mineral water. Ticket prices are US$99++ for adults and US$45++ for children.

Dong Khanh Hotel (2 Tran Hung Dao B St., Dist. 5, HCM City. Tel: 08.39236404)

The hotel’s restaurant will serve a buffet on the night of December 31. Dishes include grilled beef with salted fish sauce, grilled lamb rib and French-style stewed vegetables, seabass with lemon-and-butter sauce, 20 starters, soup and desserts.

The hotel offers 5%, 10% and 15% discounts for tickets bought three days, 10 days and 20 days prior to the party and gives buyers a glass of French wine. It cuts 10% of the ticket price for those who order French wine. Ticket prices are VND332,000++ for adults and VND273,000++ for children.

In addition, the restaurant will also serve a special buffet lunch on December 31. Tickets cost adults VND176,000++ and children VND137,000++.

Bat Dat Hotel (238 Tran Hung Dao B St., Dist. 5, HCM City. Tel: 08.38578252)

The hotel’s restaurant will serve a Christmas party with more than 40 dishes and free cocktail on December 24 from 6 p.m. Typical dishes are grilled turkey stuffed with chestnuts, grilled duck with honey sauce, grilled pig rib with aromatic herbs. During the buffet, diners can sing Christmas songs on the stage and Santa Claus gives gifts. Tickets are sold at VND250,000 for adults and VND150,000 for children.

Que Huong-Liberty 4 Hotel (265 Pham Ngu Lao St., Dist. 1, HCM City. Tel: 08.38365172)

Christmas and New Year’s Eve buffets will run from 6-9:30 p.m. on December 24 and December 31. Typical dishes for Christmas are smoked turkey, grilled lamb rib and pumpkin soup. Other dishes are grilled seafood and grilled deer. At the party, children can play games with Santa Claus and get lovely gifts from Princess Snow White. Guests can also join a lucky draw. German beer and soft drinks for the parties are complimentary. The hotel gives a 10% discount for tickets bought before December 20 and a 10% reduction to guests staying at Que Huong-Liberty hotels.

Buffets for Christmas and New Year’s Eve will be held at Central Restaurant from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on December 24 and December 31. Among the dishes are shrimp soup, roasted turkey with blackberry sauce and grilled lobster. There are cakes and gifts for children. The hotel gives one ticket for every 10 tickets booked. Ticket prices are VND399,000++ for adults and VND200,000++ for children.

From December 25 to January 1, 2011, Central serves new menus for groups. Typical dishes are the French-style shrimp soup with garlic bread, grilled sheep rib with spearmint sauce, smoked turkey with raspberry sauce, bread and vegetables. À-la-carte dishes are also available.

The hotel’s Christmas and New Year’s Eve buffets will come on the nights of December 24 and December 31. Guests will enjoy traditional dishes for Christmas such as pumpkin soup, grilled lamb rib spiced with garlic and rabbit cooked with wine in the sounds of violins and guitares as well as play games with gifts from Santa Claus. Soft drinks and one glass of beer or wine are complimentary. In particular, a buffet with Japanese, Thai, Italian, Russian, German, Singaporean, Malaysian and Vietnamese dishes will be served at 7 p.m. on December 31. Diners can join a lucky draw.

Ticket prices are VND399,000 for adults and VND199,000 for children. A 10% cut is offered to customers who buy tickets before December 15 and guests staying at the hotel.

At the Christmas party with Russian cuisine from 5:30-9:30 p.m. on December 24-26, customers can discover Russian culture through the decoration style and a music show. They will enjoy dishes prepared by Russian chefs such as grilled mutton, cheese, salmon eggs and black bread as well as Vietnamese dishes. Coming next is a lucky draw. Christmas And New Year With Saigontourist

Many hotels, restaurants and resorts under Saigontourist Holding Company will hold parties to welcome Christmas and New Year

Palace Saigon Hotel (56-66 Nguyen Hue Blvd., Dist. 1, HCM City. Tel: 08.38292860)

The Christmas party, called “Angels’ Dances,” will take place at the ballroom (on the sixth floor) from 7:30-11:30 on the night of December 24. The program includes a masquerade, display of smoke and snow in the colorful laser light, and performances of a jazz band, singers and a children’s chorus. At the party, guests will enjoy European and Asian dishes coupled with wine; they will also dance as well as get masquerade prizes at the end of the party. Guests will each have to pay US$55++ to join the party.

Apart from the Christmas party, the New Year buffet party will also be held at the hotel’s ballroom on the night of December 31, from 7:30-11:30. The party goes with more than 50 European and Asian seafood dishes, wines, liquors and draft beer. It is accompanied with music and comedy shows. Guests can dance together with Philippine singers and are given prizes at the end of the party. Each diner is charged US$50++.

On the nights of December 24, 25 and 31, the Buffet Ganh Restaurant of the hotel will hold Christmas and New Year parties with its traditional European and Asian dishes such as salmon paste, shrimp with bean sauce and grilled seafood. In particular, dishes from black Mong chicken are served for the first time. A glass of cocktail is given free to each diner. The party goes with violin and guitar melodies and a magic show. In particular, on the night of December 31, guests can join a lucky draw.

The parties will run from 6:00-10:00 p.m., with ticket prices of VND600,000 (US$30) for an adult and VND300,000 (US$15) for a child.

Buffet parties will take place at the restaurant from 7:00-10:00 on the nights of December 24 and 31, with more than 40 dishes of different styles, especially smoked turkey, grilled calf thighs and grilled pig ribs. The parties goes with music shows of Filipino singers and a chorus for Christmas, and circus and magic performances, games, dances and comedy performances for the New Year’s Eve. Participants will get lovely gifts from Santa Claus and be able to take part in a lucky draw.

Ticket prices are VND579,000 for adults and VND379,000 for children. Those who buy tickets before December 15 are given a 10% discount. Tickets are also delivered to the customers’ door.

Desserts include fresh fruits flavored with chocolate and ice cream of four colors.

On the occasion of Christmas and the New Year of 2011, Vietnam House Restaurant serves its special set menu with six dishes from December 23, 2010-January 1, 2011. These dishes are shark fin soup, basa catfish fillets spiced with salt and chilli, grilled pepper-spiced lobster, crispy half-burnt rice with coconut milk, cauliflower sautéed with beef and steamed banana cake with coconut flesh juice. Customers will be offered one glass of cocktail free. A set menu is priced at VND890,000++.

Christmas and New Year will be celebrated at Seaview Restaurant (on the eighth floor of Saigon-Quy Nhon Hotel) and Hoang Hau Restaurant of Ghenh Rang Resort from 6 p.m. of December 24 and December 31.

At Seaview, buffets with more than 40 European and Asian dishes go with music and magic shows, and lucky draws. Ticket prices are VND239,000 for adults and VND139,000 for children.

Yasaka-Saigon-Nha Trang Hotel will hold a Christmas night for its guests and locals from 7:00-9:00 p.m. on December 24. The program consists of a party with traditional dishes, a music show with Christmas songs and dances, studying Christmas customs, and playing with Santa Claus and Princess Snow.

In addition, the hotel will also celebrate the New Year by a dinner with delicious dishes on December 31. The meal goes with a music show, a masquerade dance and a performance of its bartenders. By midnight, 2,011 balloons carrying best wishes are released from the top floor of the hotel and guests count down the last seconds of the year 2010, propose a toast to each other to welcome the new year and dance together. The dinner party begins at 9:30 p.m. on the second floor.

Where to celebrate Christmas and New Year?

The festive season is a time to celebrate and make merry with family and friends. This year, the two important holidays, Christmas and New Year fall on the weekend so people have more time to relax and enjoy entertainment and dining with family and friends. Here are some more interesting venues   for you to choose for your holidays.

ENTERTAINMENT ACTIVITIES

*September 23 Park in HCMC’s District 1:

The fifth “Tastes of the World” festival will take place from Dec. 26 until Jan. 2 in the park with 60 booths from 24 countries. Apart from honoring local and international cuisines, the festival features a bartender contest, a ceremony to set Vietnam’s record for the biggest banh xeo (pancake), and a cooking contest with celebrities. Delegations from the Republic of Korea, Russia, Germany and Vietnam will perform traditional dances and folk songs in their national costumes. Youth Advertising Company.

*Dai Nam tourist area in Binh Duong Province:

The tourist area will launch a 20-minute science movie projected onto a dome screen. The dome movie theater is a combination of film making technologies, an 18m diameter dome a surround stereo system with 18 speakers and six projectors. The theater which seats 200 will screen a nature movie. The tourist area will organize a fireworks display on New Years Day Jan. 1.

*Suoi Tien Theme Park in HCMC’s District 9:

For Christmas, Suoi Tien will be transformed into snowy mountains and forests with Santa Claus riding his reindeer sleigh as angels and a snow princess give gifts to children.

An ornament festival will be held from today until Jan. 1 featuring 60 booths from cities and provinces nationwide. Some contests on bonsai, orchids, ornamental fish and dogs will be held.

*Dam Sen Cultural Park in HCMC’s District 11:

The park will launch a special “Sweet Noel & New Year” program from  Dec. 24 until Jan. 2. A new drama for children named “Vi than may man’ (A lucky genie) produced by Idécaf will stage for four days Dec. 24, 25, 31 and Jan. 1. A hip-hop battle called “Red Lotus 2011” featuring break-dance, Deejay, Rap, Graffiti, Beatbox by Vietnamese dance groups and a judging panel from Thailand will be organized all day Jan. 1 at the musical fountain stage from 7am to 6pm. An ice sculpture show featuring images of the world wonders including Vietnam’s One-Pillar Pagoda, Thailand’s Golden Pagoda, Lao Pagoda, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Champs-Élysées and the Leaning Tower of Pisa is on display until next September.

*Saigon Zoo & Botanical Garden (2 Nguyen Binh Khiem Street, District 1, HCMC)

On Dec 24 and 25, the central Youth Union in conjunction with Yeah1 TV will hold the Yeah1 Wonderland festival. The festival lineup includes a Hip Hop Supernova contest for hip hop and break dance groups, a cosplay show, a carnival, a street parade with performance art, musicians and dancers and a swapping festival.

*The Canal Area of Phu My Hung Urban Zone in HCMC’s District 7

The Canal Area will be decorated in the Christmas theme with images of Santa Claus and the reindeer sleigh, the Snow Queen, dwarfs and penguins until Dec. 26.

DINING OUT

Other Christmas promotions include rooms for US$185-US$245 per night, including buffet breakfast, Xmas and New Year parties, and half price for the fourth night.

For New Year celebrations in Hoi An, visitors can enjoy the New Year’s Eve countdown at Hoai River with activities such as a dan tranh (16-chord zither) solo performance, dragon dances, rock and Aspara dance shows. The program starts 7 p.m. on December 31 to 2 a.m. January 1.

Enjoy a Saigontourist Christmas and New Year

With only one week left till Christmas and New Year just around the corner, some hotels, resorts and restaurants under the management of Saigontourist are organizing some great parties and food to celebrate.

Rex Hotel Saigon (141 Nguyen Hue Boulevard, HCMC’s District 1, tel: 3822 8380)

The Rex Hotel will adopt a red and white theme with its decorations and entertainment activities. Revelers can join the Christmas party at the Rooftop Garden from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. on December 24. Enjoy the tasty food and listen to singers, DJs and try your luck in the lucky draw.

Tickets are priced at US$80++ per adult and US$39++ per child, inclusive of drinks and wine.

For New Years Eve, also at the Rooftop garden, guests can join a buffet from 7 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Music shows, fashion shows and DJs and a lucky draw will guarantee a fun night. Tickets US$99++ per adult and US$45++ per child, inclusive of drinks and wine.

Que Huong - Liberty 4 Hotel (265 Pham Ngu Lao Street, HCMC’s District 1, tel: 3836 5172)

A buffet program will be served from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on December 24 and 31. Buffets will feature the delicious Vietnamese taste of grilled shrimp, barbecued squid, assorted seafood and deer. On December 24, children will receive gifts from Santa Claus and the snow princess. Lucky guests will win gifts in the lucky draws on both big nights.

Tickets are priced at VND380,000 per adult and VND190,000 per child, inclusive of drinks and beer. Anyone buying tickets before December 20 and booking accommodation at the hotel will be discounted 10%.

Liberty Central Hotel (179 Le Thanh Ton Street, District 1, tel: 6291 7977)

The hotel will prepare buffets from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on December 24 and 31 with seafood, turkey, soups, and a selection of cakes. Tickets are VND399,000++ per adult and VND200,000++ per child. Buy 10 tickets in advance get one free.

From December 25 to January 1, the hotel will have a special menu with new dishes for friends and family. New dishes include shrimp soup with garlic in French style, grilled sheep ribs with mint sauce, smoked turkey served with cream and bread and vegetables.

Join Van Thanh Tourist Area’s Christmas party between 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on December 24 to enjoy the beautiful garden atmosphere, Flamenco band and a visit from Santa Claus, who will be handing out gifts to guests. Tickets are priced at VND450,000 per adult and VND300,000 per children.

Saigon Ship Hotel (Bach Dang Wharf, District 1, tel: 3823 0393)

Christmas and New Year celebrations will take place on board from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on December 24 and 31 and January 1. The first and the second decks will serve a set menu. The tinsel and baubles are the biggest sellers as they are compact and cheap. People are still watching the purse strings after the economic slowdown so they are looking for the best value they can find.

At Tan Cang Tourist Area, the “Christmas party with Russian food” event will start from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on December 24, 25 and 26. Revelers can discover Russian culture through accordion performances and Russian music and dances. A flamenco band will also play.

It will be like a night in Moscow with the garden area decorated with Matroska dolls and Christmas trees and staff dressed in Russian costumes. Food will be prepared by Russian chefs along with many Vietnamese dishes.

Xmas and New Year at Majestic and Grand

The Majestic Saigon Hotel is having parties for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve at two of its venues.  You can enjoy both big nights at gala parties at Prima Ballroom – Breeze Sky Bar on the fifth floor. Feast on the Asian and Western buffet, while being entertained by music shows for children with Christmas carols, bartender performances, a dancing contest and a live flamenco band.

Tickets cost VND1.5 million per adult and VND745,000 per child, inclusive of wine and beer.

M.Bar on the eighth floor will also hold Christmas and New Year parties with BBQ buffets, bartender performances and carols on Christmas Eve. Cost is VND1.08 million per adult and VND540,000 per child, inclusive of drinks.
